The farm - Jam, cakes, and learning to cook

Created by Joy 3 years ago

Mum decided that Dad should learn to fend for himself after she passed away. Do she taught Dad to make jam, bottle the fruit, make cakes, and cook meals for himself. Dad did all this well into his 90s and he still made cakes at 98 years with a little help.

PS. There is also the story of all the jam sold to raise money for the local church, and one day a neighbour entered a jar of jam into the local Nidderdale Show produce competition. Arnold's jam won second prize (out of about a dozen entries!). A bit of a surprise - but he still has the prize card somewhere.
